IMF 51604 Writers' Lives
Instructor: Wm Anthony Connolly
Class Type: Craft/Literature
This is an exploration of ideas. Ideas about what it means to be a writer, to lead a writer’s life, is the central focus of our examination. This eleven-week journey is a combination craft/literature course where you will ponder your own writing mission; seek out resources available virtually and in your own backyard, and come to a greater understanding of the community of writers. The end result of this exploration will be your Writer’s Portfolio — including your writing mission (called an Ars Poetica for poets); a short essay on your process; your best work to date (written at any time in your writing career), and your plans for the future. Every week we will discuss present-day myths and truisms about the craft; find and share prompts, tips, and explore biographies of contemporary writers.
