*For Summer Quarter 2014, do NOT log into Blackboard until Monday, July 14. Class shells will not be ready for student view until that date.*
Online students are required to participate on Blackboard a minimum of three times per week throughout the quarter. On July 14, you will log into Blackboard (see instructions below), and then click on your course name. In the left column, click on the menu buttons called Getting Started and Class Requirements. Read all information contained in those sections, including the syllabus, online etiquette, etc. Then click on the Weekly Assignments menu button in the left column. The Week 1 weekly folder will contain all assignments and due dates for the first week (Mon. 7/14 through Sun. 7/20), including your first assignment, which is due by WEDNESDAY, July 16, at 11:59pm, and is detailed below:
For your FIRST ASSIGNMENT, you will click on the Discussions menu button, and then click on the First Assignment discussion forum. Click the button at the top left to create a thread; title it with your name. In your post, introduce yourself to the class, and explain why you were interested in enrolling in this class. Over the rest of the week, along with completing any other assignments required by your instructor for Week 1, read over your classmates’ introduction posts, and feel free to respond (respectfully, of course, following the rules for online etiquette contained in Class Requirements).
All students must post their initial comment in the first assignment discussion forum by WEDNESDAY at 11:59pm in order to be counted as attended for the week. Attendance must be recorded early in Week 1 due to financial aid requirements for student refunds.
PLEASE NOTE: If, after looking over the class content, you think you may want to drop the class, do NOT post your introduction in the discussion board, and do not post anywhere on Blackboard. As long as you have not posted, you can be dropped from the class as Never Attended, and you will not be charged tuition. (If at any point during the quarter you decide to drop, you must email the Program Director at firstname.lastname@example.org and include the last date that you accessed Blackboard, which will count as your last date of attendance. The percentage of tuition that you are charged for dropping will depend on when you drop the class. Each week during the quarter, you will click on WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS and then on the appropriate week’s folder to view the assignments and due dates for the week. If you have any questions or problems, you can contact the instructor, or you can click on Help in Blackboard to contact the Lindenwood Online Support Center.
Instructions for Logging in to Blackboard for Online Classes:
- Go to www.lindenwood.edu
- Hover your mouse over Blackboard in the white bar at the top of the screen
- Click on Access Blackboard
- Log in with the same user ID and password you use for your Lionmail account (if you have not activated your Lionmail account, go to www.lindenwood.edu, hover over Email at the top of the screen, and click on Find Your Username; follow the instructions to get your user ID and password)
- Once you are logged in, click on your course name to enter the class site
- If you have any problems, click on Help at the top of the Log In page or contact your instructor
